Aix-en-Provence

Day two in France began in Aix-en-Provence.  A day in France is not complete without a "petit dejune"  or breakfast.  This meal standardly includes coffee, orange juice, croissant or bread roll, butter and jelly.  One could also have hot tea in place of coffee.  The Hotel Cardinal gladly provided such a breakfast to its guests for an extra 12 euro.

As I mentioned earlier, my brother was speaking at a university here in Aix.  This morning we headed off to the event.  It was sponsored by the Law and Political Science Department of the Aix-Marseille University.   The first day's sessions were held at an old site which housed the Institut des Ameriques.  The building is in old town Aix directly across from the Cathedral of the Holy Savior (Saint-Sauveur).

The speakers at this conference came from many different universities.  Fortunately for me, they gave most of their presentations in English.  It was a particularly warm day in the 80's outside, and we did not have the benefit of air conditioning inside.

Taking a lunch break at the conference catered by Leroy Catering.  The miniature cheese burgers were the cutest.  And that name is pronounced with an accent on "roy" as in Le Roi.

We ended the day with a four course meal at Café Leonardo.
